John Denver is a popular artist and musician who has been able to touch many with his songs. Most of his songs have roots in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and moved to Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame said: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever to be inducted. Today, he is Colorado's international image. On my journeys around the world, I've encountered many non-Colorado residents. Colorado. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief period in small folk ensembles. Danoff had originally written the tune to Johnny Cash's tune with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver realized from the first time he heard first versions of the song that it was going to be an instant popular. The singer recorded the song within a couple of days when he performed it in front of an enthusiastic audience in Washington D.C.
